A Definition of Coaching

‘Coaching is about performing at your best through the individual and private assistance of someone who will challenge, stimulate and guide you to keep growing.’

– Gerard O'Donovan, Noble Manhattan Coaching

What is Life Coaching?

Life Coaching originated in the USA over 10 years ago but has more recently gained public recognition in Britain where it is enjoying phenomenal growth as more and more people discover the advantages for themselves. Life Coaching is sweeping the country invading so many aspects of corporate and personal life that you almost wonder how we ever managed before.

What are the benefits of having a coach?

  • To avoid making mistakes in both your business and personal life
  • To accomplish more, in less time
  • To minimise problems and enable you to tackle those that remain
  • To achieve lasting happiness with a better life
  • To climb the ladder in your career or personal development
  • To become more effective and influential
  • To be more attractive to others
People who seek out coaches are frequently not sure what they want out of life and coaches help them identify and then put in place the steps needed to realise their dreams. This can be a highly exhilarating experience both for the client and the coach as obstacles disappear and goals are achieved.

Put simply, having a coach will help you to create and work towards the grandest version of the greatest personal vision you have: to achieve success - success being the continuous realisation of a worthy goal or ideal.

What are the benefits of being a coach?

The coaching profession is on the rise, and you don’t need any particular background to be a good coach, just the willingness to help other people and get a kick out of it.

One of the attractions of becoming a life coach is that it can fit in with many different lifestyles and can be incorporated into your present working life. For those who aspire to have their own self-employed business, life coaching can become a full-time career and, as most private coaching is done over the telephone, the location of your clients has no limits.

Life coaching is a highly rewarding career, and the skills of a coach are now actively sought after as a ‘qualification’ by companies wanting well-trained, skilled personnel, supervisory customer care or management staff.

What the papers say...

‘More and more people are employing a professional to help them get their lives under control and finally achieve everything they want.’
- Daily Mail

‘Coaches act as a mirror: helping people to work out what they want, what they are good at, what they are bad at, where and how they can improve.’
- Financial Times

‘Coaching deals with all areas of life, professional and personal - it’s not just for people with problems - but for those who want to do what they do even better.’
- Independent on Sunday
